ROME

I loved Rome. I packed so much into my days but there was so much more to see that I didn’t get to! I’m looking forward to going back already. The Colosseum and the Roman Forum were incredible. I spent five hours there and absorbed as much info as I could through my trusty audioguide. Those things are SO worth paying the extra euros otherwise you just have no idea what you’re looking at. Having someone narrate the 2000 year history in your ear while you’re looking at a crumbling pillar makes it seem so much more beautiful and awe inspiring.
Of course I visited the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Villa Borghese, and the rest ….. but what I really loved about Rome was there was always something magical waiting around every corner. You can walk the beautiful old lanes lined with pizzerias and gelaterias and think you’re just in a pretty street, and then you turn the corner and there’s either a fountain, a church or a monument ready to take your breath away. It really was just magic.
