I had – very unrealistically – planned to head to Cinque Terre and walk the coastline between the five beaches in a day trip. This did not happen.
I ended up spending too long in Rome (really did not want to leave) so my timing was a little tight. I decided to just head to Monterosso, the final beach of the five, stay there and spend the day swimming rather than another day of walking in the heat. Plus after having a sneak peek at all the towns on the train trip out there, I think you would need a few days to take your time and do the place justice so I’m glad I didn’t rush it – I’ll be back!
It was glorious.
