Our last stop was Osaka, for a brief day and a half. We visited Osaka castle (the grounds and towers were great, not worth paying for the museum inside though) and went up the Umeda Sky Building for city views. Buildings sprawl out to the horizon in every direction – an amazing perspective on a city inhabited by double the entire NZ population.

The downtown area was a place like no other – jam packed streets full of LED signage, oversize and animated food items plastered above street vendors, and pop tunes blasting competitively from every angle.

Now it’s hometime for these tired kids!
