We took an early bus (7am!) from Ljubljana to visit the lakes for the day. Our first stop was Lake Bohinj (bo-heen), in Triglav National Park – this took about two hours to get to from Ljubljana (30 mins further on from Lake Bled).
The lake was so pretty – crystal clear water, surrounded in greenery and not too overrun by tourists. The day we were there happened to be a public holiday (the Ascension) so there were a lot of locals at the lake and even a big kayak race!
After lunch we took the bus back to Lake Bled. A lot more people around, beautiful with the island in the middle but the lake definitely didn’t feel as untouched as Bohinj. We climbed the peak for views back over the lake and then took the boat into the centre to visit the church atop the island. Stunning!
Also ran into Angus who was visiting Bled on the same day!
